Never submitted quiz attempts

Sometimes a student quiz attempt is listed as 'Never submitted' and no automatic grading occurs on the attempt. To close the attempt and trigger automatic grading, use the following method:

1. Go to the quiz, click on the cog wheel and select User overrides:

2. Search for the student, adjust the open/close timing if required, change the time limit to 1 minute (sufficient for the amount of time required to close an attempt) and change the number of attempts allowed to 2:

3. Return to your quiz settings:

4. Change the Grading method to 'Last attempt' and change 'Each attempt builds on the last' to 'Yes':

5. Save your changes
