Respondus Support

Respondus support process:

Please note: Respondus is available for in-semester tests during semester 1 2022. Wherever possible, tests and scheduled final assessments (exams) running during the exam period should use the eAssessment platform wherever possible. Respondus may be available for units that are unable to use the eAssessment software during the exam period, but this is not guaranteed - complete the Respondus end-of-semester request form to request approval for Respondus use in end-of-semester exams.

For in-semester Respondus support requests:

1. Academic requests Respondus support via the Request for Respondus Support form (at least two weeks prior to the test)
2. We (eLearning Services) receive the request for support, a copy is automatically sent to eSolutions
3. We add Respondus content (student guides, FAQs etc) and practice quiz to the specified Moodle unit (this will be set to require completion before students can access the actual test)
4. We enable Respondus on the practice quiz and the test
5. Students attempt the practice quiz a few days before the test
6. On the day of the test students are directed to contact the eSolutions support number (990 31777)
7. eSolutions contact eLearning for overrides if required (if a student has lost time in their test for example)
8. Any academic issues (e.g. missing content) or significant concerns (e.g. software outages) will be discussed with the contact person listed on the form who MUST be available while the test is running.

NOTES
  • Support hours - eSolution's support hours are 0800-1800 on weekdays and our support hours are 0800-1700 on weekdays. If your test is scheduled to run outside these hours, consider equity issues that may arise if a student experiences technical difficulties and ensure alternative support strategies are available.
  • Students MUST have completed a Respondus practice quiz within the week before the test. This helps to ensure the software is correctly set up and functioning on their computer and network.
  • The chief examiner or other nominee must be available by phone throughout the duration of the test.
  • Assessments that are =>20% must use the Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor
  • Assessments that are =>20% must require students to complete the academic integrity pledge
  • Respondus charges per student per unit so if Respondus is only going to be used once per unit (particularly for an assessment item with low weighting), then consideration should be given to whether Respondus is required in this instance or if other security strategies should be used instead.
