You can schedule a Zoom meeting and pre-assign tutorial groups to breakout rooms for the session. This is a great way to run tutorial discussions in groups without being face-to-face.
For further information:
For instructions on how to set up a breakout room in your Zoom meeting, please watch the attached short video.
Notes:
- Cannot be co-host to open breakout rooms (must be host / alternative host)
- If using pre-assigned breakout rooms, students who join late after breakout rooms have been opened, have to be manually assigned to their room
- If students do not access the Zoom meeting link whilst signed in, they
cannot be allocated to pre-assigned breakout rooms. Either add the zoom
links to your Moodle site (which will use SSO) or ensure that 'Only authenticated users can join' is checked when setting up your meeting
- If students have joined a breakout room late they cannot view previous chat history of their breakout room
- Having the breakout room manual assignment option enabled means that pre-assigned breakout rooms have to be 'recovered' (under 'Recreate' option in Breakout room tab)
