What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is a text-matching software which assists students with referencing and citing, and correctly acknowledging the work of others.

The way we use Turnitin has changed. Turnitin can now be used in two ways through Moodle.

  1. As a stand alone dropbox. You may wish to have students run their submissions through Turnitin without the need to submit via a secondary assignment dropbox. You can continue to use the Turnitin Assignment 2 activity for this purpose.
  2. In a recent update to Moodle the regular assignment dropbox now allows Turnitin to be enabled and all student submissions and similarity reports can be accessed from the one dropbox.
